The village of Sóller, known as ‘Orange Valley’ (El valle de los naranjos), lies in a fertile plain planted with orange, lemon and olive trees and sits in the heart of the Sierra, nestled between majestic peaks.
It has a special architectural charm, as an outstanding disciple of Gaudí, and some of his houses are part of the legacy of Modernism on the island.
The house is located in the northwest of Majorca, in the Sierra de Tramuntana with its rugged peaks bordering the Mediterranean sea, an area of outstanding natural beauty characterized by its contrasts between sea and mountains, rock and nature… it is the other Majorca, which inspires artists, writers and painters, which leaves no one indifferent, which tempts us with its friendly landscape to discover picturesque villages among its green mountains.
Surroundings
Fornalutx, a neighboring village of Sóller, is considered one of the best-preserved villages in Spain. After several centuries, it still conserves its the network of small stone streets (only accessible on foot) with stairs that remind us that it was once an old Arab farmstead. Although smaller than that of Sóller, it also has a charming square presided over by the church and has several bars and restaurants.
Actividades
El mercadillo de Sóller es los sábados, durante los cuales se crea un gran bullicio de compradores y mercaderes. Sóller no tiene tiendas de lujo y diseño, si no más bien todo lo que cabe esperar de un pueblo verdaderamente tradicional, por lo que encontrarás productos locales y artesanales. Aunque sí es cierto, también hay algunas pequeñas gemas, como por ejemplo Couture 13, un lugar único en el que se vende moda de diseño, arte local y elementos decorativos, entre los que se incluyen muebles pintados a mano.
El pueblo de Sóller es también un lugar perfecto para senderistas y aficionados al Nordic Walking ya que el sendero de largo recorrido GR221, también conocido como la Ruta de Pedra en Sec, atraviesa la Serra de Tramuntana, pasando así por Sóller. Los ciclistas aficionados pueden abordar el gran reto de la Coll de Sóller (el túnel está cerrado para ciclistas), y también los ciclistas de montaña tienen un terreno espectacular en el que divertirse.
